Solveig's Limpa

Today’s bake is a family recipe from my great aunt, Solveig. It’s a no yeast and no kneed bread with a lot of flavour.


You simply mix all ingredients together to a sticky dough and press it out to a rectangle on a baking tray and then bake!


I love having a slice of this with some butter and a slice of cheese!



1l filmjölk (or plain yoghurt)

300ml dark bread syrup (or molasses)

1200gr sifted rye flour (720gr strong white and 480gr rye flour)

1tsp ground cumin

1tsp ground aniseed

2tsp baking powder

2tsp bicarbonate of soda


Mix all ingredients to a sticky dough. Put a baking parchment on a baking tray and gently form the dough to a rectangle.

Bake in 120c for 35 minutes and then turn up oven to 160c and bake for another 35 minutes.
