Easter Lunch

Easter this year was supposed to be spent in Sweden with family but for obvious reasons that wasn't possible so I made a traditional Påskbord, easter buffet, at home instead.


A Påskbord, much like a Julbord (Christmas buffet), will have different dishes based on traditions with what you like, or new recipes, and can include dishes like various pickled herrings, gravlax, eggs, salmon, lamb and the list goes on. This year I opted for seafood only, the dishes pictured are;


  • Toast Skagen with rainbow trout caviar

  • Gravlax with a traditional gravlax sauce with added espresso for more flavour

  • A traditional pickled herring with red onion and carrots

  • Pickled herring in a Västerbottens cheese mix

  • Egg halves topped with a spicy Creme Fraiche and king prawn

  • Jansson's Temptation, a potato gratin with Swedish Ansjovis (sprats in brine)

And finally, a must have is a Snaps, or Aquavit, and my preferred one is OP Anderson
